Jiri Volek: band Dunaj 1992-1997

An extraordinary exhibition to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Jiří Kolšovský, frontman of the band Dunaj. 

Jiří Kolšovský (1955-1998), singer and guitarist, was active in the alternative-rock band Dunaj until his death, when the band broke up. The group was founded in 1986 in Brno. Its founding members included singer and violinist Iva Bittová and drummer Pavel Fajt. Most of its members played in a number of other alternative bands or went on to solo careers. The line-up of the band has changed over the years and was renewed in 2018, with Vladimír Václavek, Josef Ostřanský and Pavel Koudelka.

The exhibition will include photographs of the band by Jiří Volk (*1955) from 1992-1997. Jiří Volek began photographing concerts in 1976, and two years later became one of the photographers of the Jazz Section, an alternative cultural organization founded in 1969, which faced repression from the regime, and whose successor is today's Unijazz. Volek also worked with the Archa Theatre between 1994 and 2004.

The opening will take place on 17 July 2023 at 19:00. Exhibition extended until 31 August 2023!
