Jazzmania

A timeless jazz kaleidoscope. Bob Brookmayer's trombone from the first half of the 60s will be heard from the jazz modernism tableau. The quintet of drummer Petr Nohavica will play from the local novelties. In memory of drummer Paul Motian are recordings by saxophonist Joe Lovano with the Jacob Bro Sextet. An interesting novelty from the contemporary jazz avant-garde is the recording of trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith with the duo Vijay Iyer (piano) & Jack DeJohnette (drums). In the section of music beyond jazz, we hear examples of references to rock and roll in recordings by the Kronos Quartet and Ray Charles.
