Behind the name SAKOBI is the new project of the Vilém Spilka Quartet. The band features saxophonist Radek Zapadlo on saxophone, Martin Kleibl on drums and Vilém Spilka, which for project purposes SAKOBI Replaced by the guitar as his main instrument for the double bass, which he took up during the covid pandemic.

The trio launched their debut recording released by Bivak Records at Jazz Dock this year. Stylistically, the album is more or less unclassifiable, drawing on the traditions of jazz and other African-American styles, as well as folk music from Moravia and beyond. SAKOBI is a unique project not only in its repertoire. Trio in the line-up saxophone - double bass - drums is a relatively unique concept on the Czech scene, providing space for intensive musical communication and free expression of individual members.
