Myroslav Lajuk: Bachmut - presentation of the Czech translation of the book with the participation of the author

If all goes well, on Thursday 23 January we will welcome the author of the book, Ukrainian writer, journalist and screenwriter Myroslav Lajuk, who will present a Czech translation of his book Bachmut, published last November by Pavel Mervart:

At the time of the most intense fighting for Bakhmut, writer Myroslav Lajuk and photographer Danylo Pavlov go to the places where armed clashes are practically constant and the shelling does not stop even for a minute. They spend several days and nights there alongside brave Ukrainian defenders, with infantry and air defence units, medics and military chaplains, rescue workers and children and old people who, despite everything, continue to stay in the town. The result of these journeys at the turn of the year and in March 2023 is this book of reports and essays about everyday life on the front line, about why soldiers get manicures and what military nicknames are for, about irreparable losses, about the history of Bakhmut, and about the phenomenon of memory and forgetting.

The whole event will be interpreted into Czech.
