Jiří Orten Award
The Jiří Orten Award is a Czech literary award given to the author of a prose or poetic work written in the Czech language. The prize-winning author must be no more than thirty years old at the time of the completion of the work. The Jiří Orten Prize was established in 1987 outside the official structure (the "founding fathers" include Jindřich Pokorný and Vladimír Pistorius), for many years it was awarded by the Mladá fronta publishing house and now it is jointly awarded by the Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers and the Prague City Council. The award includes a financial prize of CZK 50,000.
This year's nominations will be announced after 15 April.
