Argo: a word about Gaza

Three insider authors, three perspectives on the complicated and highly emotional subject of Gaza. Pharmacist Stanislav Havlicek is a veteran of Doctors Without Borders missions abroad and has written a highly personal book about his time in wartime Gaza, Heaven Full of Dragons. Former journalist, coach and marketer David Shorf shares his memories in I Served in Gaza, where he reveals the conditions in the Israeli army and society. Czech Television reporter and writer Jakub Szántó completes the trio with the first Czech monograph on the history of Gaza, interwoven with reportage motifs in Between the Millstones: Gaza and its Story.

So what is the story of Gaza? What is the past and what is the future? Who are its inhabitants and why are they undergoing suffering that far exceeds the horrors of previous conflicts in modern Gazan history? Havlicek, Shorf and Szántó will offer insider perspectives backed by decades of experience, contacts and study, and will attempt to bring facts, context and perspectives to an emotionally charged debate.

The programme will be presented by Nikola Teneva.

Free admission.
