Argo: Ondřej Štindl - Someday it will be yours

The title of Ondřej Štindel's new novel contains a message that is only apparently straightforward and clear. Who is communicating this message and to whom? Who is sharing something with whom? Who is passing something on to whom? Is it a gift or a burden? The book's protagonist, Luky, a young man in present-day Prague, goes from asking those questions to asking for the most basic of things. As we have become accustomed to from the author's previous prose, the highly existential questions here are not asked and opened in a pretentiously "heavy-handed" way. On the contrary: the reader is treated to a subtly graded story that will not let him or her breathe, in which grotesque, sadness, longing, sarcasm, despair and muted hope are intertwined, everything that is inseparable from this type of questioning and often futile search for answers.

Ondřej Štindl (* 1966) is a writer, screenwriter, publicist and DJ. Four novels have been published by Argo: Mondschein (2012), To the Border (2016), When Your Head Turns (2020) and So Much Ashes (2022).

The evening will be introduced by Petr Onufer, editor of the Argo publishing house; literary publicist and poet Libor Staněk II will talk about the book; Jan Majer (Grant Havoc, La Prospérité, Bezbolestná, Nusle Sound System, etc.) will provide musical accompaniment.

The book will be available for purchase on site at a discounted price. Free admission.
