Under the Black Hill + Character Introductions
Pod Černý vrch is a stalwart of the Czech alternative scene, where they have been active for 30 years. Throughout this time, it has been characterized by a distinctive style, the distinctive stage presence of the band's frontman and a considerable amount of energy of all musicians.
Since its formation in 1995, the band has performed alongside other alternative or underground bands (Psí vojáci, MCH Band, DG307, Zuby Nehty and others). In different years they have repeatedly participated in the most important domestic festivals - Colours of Ostrava, Trutnov Open Air, Rock For People, Sázavafest, Venetian Night...
Currently, after several years of straying into the realm of alternative, pop-rock and folk, they are turning back to their more underground roots.
The band thus returns to elaborate, often large-scale compositions with a non-linear structure (in no case the "verse - chorus" model) and elaborate work with motifs and themes. Particularly in harmony, he also uses 20th century classical music techniques. At the same time, he increases the emphasis on the statement contained in the lyrics, on taking a clear stance on important life issues and problems. He does not shy away from occasional functional quotations and parodic elements. His current work is described as "postmodern underground".
Pod Černý vrch features drums, bass guitar, two keyboards (and samples), guitar, highly effective violin, vocals and delivery.
Alternative band Imaginary Figures plays music on the border of indie rock, psychedelic pop and jazz. Piano-saxophone-bass-drums. Electronic elements have crept into the previously acoustic sound over time.
