Vladimír WAGNER: Patterns and other
The exhibition of paintings and drawings by Vladimír Wagner continues his earlier work. Again, natural motifs appear as subjects of paintings and drawings. The author found his inspiration in the wine-growing region below the South Moravian Pálava. His canvases depict landscapes and typical natural motifs. His work can be expressed as an amazement at nature's ability to create an infinite number of variations of one theme. Drawings of bizarre shapes of vine heads, twisted roots, pieces of wood - all of these are another celebration of creation. That's why he arranges his motifs in a square grid, like an imaginary catalogue of nature and realia.
Beauty can be found even in seemingly distant subjects, such as the sight of rotten apples decorated with colourful moulds. This is also related to capturing the human imprint on reality. The inventiveness of the craftsmen in the form of the bizarre shapes of the wine cellar ventilation windows, the myriad combinations of objects in the sheds, all create an analogy to the forces of nature.
His work expresses humility before the ability of nature to regenerate its forces in the fight against adverse circumstances.
