UNI on stage: Václav Havelka
One of the most prominent figures on the Central European independent music scene is embarking on a new chapter in his career. A Snake Crawling Up a Broken Ladder It is a deeply personal album that blends contemporary folk, ambient, psychedelic and Americana. Thanks to its extraordinary international acclaim, it represents Václav Havelka in its most mature and personal form to date.
Following the exceptionally well-received album launch at Atrium Žižkov, the project is entering a new phase of live performances. Alongside more intimate performances, a new concert line-up has also been formed, comprising prominent figures from the Czech alternative scene, who are giving the songs more open arrangements and an even more intense live feel. As noted in the review of the debut concert, the new line-up adds another dimension to the songs and unleashes a previously unknown energy within them.
Václav Havelka’s concert is not merely a presentation of his new album. It is a carefully crafted musical narrative in which intimacy alternates with explosive energy, silence with powerful soundscapes, and meticulously constructed songs give way to spontaneous improvisation. Havelka’s distinctive voice, hypnotic guitars and his new band create a concert experience that naturally appeals to audiences of contemporary folk, alternative rock, Americana and experimental music.
A Snake Crawling Up a Broken Ladder It presents Václav Havelka at the height of his creative journey to date – as a composer capable of transforming deeply personal experiences into a universal musical expression with extraordinary international resonance.
On stage, these songs become an intense, living organism – a concert that blends the raw energy of alternative rock, the depth of contemporary folk and the freedom of improvisation into a single, exceptionally powerful musical experience.
