🌳Čestmír Huňát about the vote to preserve trees planted by the Jazz Section and American writers:

🌳 There is still a struggle to preserve the public space at Kačerov near the former Jazz section house and its reclamation. So far, Prague 4 has managed to include the initiative to reclaim this space in the voting within the participatory part of the 2025 budget and its implementation can be voted online. Unfortunately, so far our initiative does not have many votes, so I would like to ask for your help. I will be glad if you support the project by voting, if not for the sake of the Jazz Section or Unijazz, then for the sake of preserving more green space in Prague. The petition has the number 12362 and is published about third in order under the title "Reclamation of the urban green around the Jazz Section monument". After clicking on it you can vote and after verification in the mail your vote is counted.

🌳 Attention, you can only vote *until 9.5. till 12:00!* Let's try to do something about it. And it would be great if you could use your address books and manage to get some more votes.
Thank you very much,
for Unijazz Čestmír Huňát

The Jazz Section of the Musicians' Union, which eventually became Unijazz, is celebrating its 40th anniversary! Join us to commemorate the founding of the UN Park and the planting of the Friendship Trees.

The 40th Anniversary Celebration will be held at Kačerov on March 21 at 3pm.

Forty years ago, in 1985 (when it was mandatory to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the "liberation" by the Red Army), the Jazz Section organized a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the end of World War II. On this occasion, the American writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr. visited the Jazz Section and, together with the American diplomats who accompanied him, planted several maple trees, the "trees of friendship" that became the foundation of the UN Park, which was also enlarged a year later by John Updike, accompanied by more than a hundred people. Shortly thereafter, on September 6, 1986, the entire Jazz Section committee was imprisoned.

The planted maple trees are still growing on Kačerovo near Ke Krčská stráni Street and it is here that the commemorative event will take place on 21 March.

We are very sorry, but the concert on 29/2, which was supposed to take place on March 1, is cancelled due to illness. All tickets purchased will be refunded.
