A French medium-length colour film that film critics called "a purely cinematic, movement, rhythmic and colourful poem". It is a lyrical story about the friendship between a little Parisian boy, Pascal, and his red inflatable balloon. Its director, Albert Lamorisse, was born on 13 January 1922.

Gerry Mulligan was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, pianist, composer and arranger. He collaborated with many musicians, including Miles Davis, Claude Thornhill and Chet Baker, among many others. He died on January 20, 1996.
