Argo: Ring made of wire
Tales of Love Based on True Stories A Memoir of a Nation
BARBORA HAPPY
What would the story of Romeo and Juliet look like if they lived in the post-war Sudetenland, in the Stalinist 1950s, or during the age of normalisation? Twenty-four short stories bring to life the loves and break-ups of real people who entrusted their stories to the Memory of a Nation. They are full of fragile emotions and firm determination and defiance. Their settings are diverse: a reformatory for teenagers, the Terezín ghetto, a farm affected by collectivisation, an underground club, but also West Berlin or the Vietnamese jungle. But they all share a timeless hope and longing that persists whether the lovers are separated by barbed wire, a prison wall or an iron curtain.
Helena Třeštíková will be the godmother of the book and Jakub Železný will guide the evening.
