Days of the North: Linn Strømsborg

Being a Woman: Linn Strømsborg & Dorota Ambrožová

„To be a woman means keeping your mouth shut when you really want to scream; to be a woman means bringing a new life into the world whilst failing to live your own; to be a woman means staying young for as long as possible and, the moment you grow old, simply fading away,“ she reflects in the novel Bloody hell, bloody hell, bloody hell (translated by Jitka Jindřišková) by the Norwegian author Linn Strømsborg Britt, who has always lived up to other people’s expectations, until one morning her patience finally snaps and she lashes out at her husband, daughter and friends. The heroine of the author’s previous book also faces a lack of understanding from those around her Never, never, never because, despite being in a happy relationship, she does not want children.

The second guest on the programme will be the Czech writer Dorota Ambrožová, who made her debut two years ago with a provocative story told from the perspective of a young girl Last summer and this year it published an amendment The Naked Ones, a candid confession from a young mother suffering from insomnia and fatigue: „Everything around me is growing and blossoming, but I’m the only one falling behind.“

Presented by Šárka Jančíková, with excerpts read by the actress Marie Jansová.
