Gumbo Blues & Mystery Shoes (Phil Shoenfelt, Janny Richter)

Phil Shoenfelt, Jan Švihálek, Kristi Lescinski, Janny Richter, Mojmír Sabolovič, Jakub Kovtun and Robert Carrithers are featured.

The evening will begin with a unique performance by Phil Shoenfelt, Jan Švihálek and Kristi Lescinski, who will present Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo, the critically acclaimed album by Phil Shoenfelt & Band of Heysek (Indies/Scope December 2023). For the first time, all of the tracks will be played without drums and bass, and the musicians themselves are curious to see how these songs will work in acoustic form.

Photographer Oldřich Šil during the break his recently published book of photographs and poetic texts dedicated to the band BAND OF HEYSEK - FRAMED. Oldřich will talk briefly about what attracted him to the band and what inspires him, and copies of the book will be on sale. Many of the photos were taken during the recording of Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo. Oldrich's interests include portraiture, writing and capturing molecules of light. He is the founder of the group ART FACTORY 11 / C76.

The second part of the evening will offer a set of songs by Janny Richter and his Janny's Hog Ranch, accompanied by Mojmir "Bob" Sabalovic of Band of Heysek. These musical revivalists (who could be considered the ghosts of Pat Garrett and Billy Kidd) will play a set of cowpunk country-blues based on Janny's recordings Delta Trash (2023/Poli5) and Put Some Hog On It (2021/Poli5).
