PAVEL PAVEL: The man who broke the moai statues on Easter Island
Ing. Pavel Pavel is a technician and experimental archaeologist who is engaged in researching possible ways of transporting heavy loads during the construction of monumental buildings of ancient times. In 1986, at the invitation of the world-famous Norwegian traveller Thor Heyerdahl, he took part in an expedition to Easter Island, during which he confirmed (on the original moai statue) the results of his previous experiments with a copy of the statue in Strakonice, and thus verified his theory about the method of transport of these statues.
Pavel Pavel has been given the chieftaincy title of Ariki Too Ko Ihu by the locals, and he returns repeatedly to the unique island in the Pacific Ocean.
Free admission.
