Launch of the Loes and Honza Live CD + Support: KrMiš
Loes van Schaijk (NL – vocals, acoustic guitar) and Honza Bartošek (CZ – vocals, violin) form a charismatic singer-songwriter duo somewhere on the borderline between Irish folk and bluegrass, full of humanity with a strong emphasis on rhythm and phrasing, as well as vocal harmonies and lyrics that are both witty and moving. During last year’s tour of seven European countries, they recorded a full concert at the Het Zevende Huis ("The Seventh House") club in Gorinchem, the Netherlands.
Come and join us at the Čítárna to celebrate the launch of this live album!
The duo KrMiš are performing as guest artists: Krystyna (accordion, vocals) and Michaela Kalašová (clarinet, vocals).
Krystyna is a singer-songwriter, accordionist and puppeteer. Her songs are imbued with the folklore of her native Beskydy Mountains, as well as the chanson-style atmosphere of the big city. She sings in Polish, Czech, Slovak and the Cieszyn dialect. She also enjoys setting her friends’ poems to music and collects old folk songs. All this is beautifully complemented by herwith Michaela Kalašová on the clarinet and vocals.
Loes and Krystyna are colleagues at the non-profit organisation Loutky v nemocnici.
Rejka Marton Balcarová is a singer-songwriter, photographer and organiser who believes that music is, above all, about connection. She writes her own songs, which, in her own words, she leaves „unvarnished". They do not rely on elaborate arrangements or a large band – they are based on the story, the melody and a connection with the audience. Sometimes they are tender and contemplative, at other times playful or tinged with subtle humour. As well as the classical guitar, she also plays a five-string guitar with open tuning, the sound of which inspires her to create new arrangements and new songs. She adopted the name Marton in honour of her father, the pop singer Rony Marton. For her, it is a way of commemorating the man from whom she inherited her love of music, her singing talent and her optimistic outlook on the world.
