A timeless jazz kaleidoscope in a traditional reading and listening program. Organist Jimmy Smith and guitarist Kenny Burrell will be featured on the Modern Jazz Table as a reminder of other timeless figures in jazz history. The Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Jazz will feature the third in a series of three different trios by Charles Lloyd, recorded in 2022; Polish pianist Kasia Pietrzko; Prague's International Jazz Dock Orchestra; and the connections between the music of John Cage and jazz musicians Glauk Venier and Ambrose Akinmusir. Finally, McCoy Tyrner will make everyone dance with his hard bop in a concert recording from 2009, helped by guitarist Bill Frisell and saxophonist Gary Bartz.
