Jiří Bulis: The Sun on the Quilts
Composer, singer and lyricist Jiri Bulis (1946-1993) has received his first long-playing record. It is named after one of Bulis' songs, Sun on the Quilts, and listeners will also find well-known titles such as Guests on Earth, Umbrella from Piccadilly and Endless Waltz. But they can also look forward to the previously unreleased Don't Shoot the Pigeon.
The Prague launch of the album will be hosted by the Unijazz Reading Room and Bulis' songs will be performed and sung live by Marek Doubrava, Lucie Dlabolová Buli-sová, Martin Kyšperský, Bára Ungerová (DVA), Bára Zmeková, Markéta Žitňanská and others. The event will also include a debate with Lucie Dlabolová Bulisová about the life of Jiří Bulis. You will be able to buy the LP Slunce na peřinách and a T-shirt or bag with a motif from the album.

He loved eating cakes in the café, was a passionate aviator and wrote notes in pencil. As an author of theatre music, Jiří Bulis most often collaborated with the then Prostějov HaDivadlo and the former Theatre on a String in Brno. He composed music for important productions by Arnošt Goldflam and Bolek Polívka, and also collaborated with the Drama Club, the Drak Theatre and Ypsi-lonka. His music was also commissioned by film directors Juraj Jakubisko, Věra Chytilová and Miroslav Luther. He has written over 300 songs, some of which have been released on CD or cassette, but a gramophone was missing from his discography until this autumn.
