JWQ: Janoušek-Wróblewski Quartet

Štěpán Janoušek (trombone), Michal Wróblewski (saxophone), Miloš Klápště (double bass), Jan Chalupa (drums). JWQ is an acoustic quartet combining improvised music with compositions from the works of both woodwind players. The quartet was originally influenced by New York downtown jazz (Sex Mob, Medeski-Martin-Wood, Bobby Previte, Ray Anderson, Marty Ehlrich), but over time this direct inspiration has partially disappeared and the quartet has become an ensemble based on "so many sources it's a shame". The compositions are eclectic, the music draws from a variety of traditions, and everything is connected by total improvisation.
