Michal Bulíř: Valerie in the Year of Wonders
In December last year, a collection of poetry by Michal Bulír was published Valerie in the Year of Wonders will be launched on 17 May 2023 in the Unijazz Reading Room by Czech big beat legend Michal Prokop together with the frontman of the Prague rock band Bílá nemoc Zdeněk Hříbal and publisher Lubomír Houdek (Galén).
During the evening, Czech poets Radek Lehkoživ, Ondřej Linhart and Poet Ticho will give a poetry reading. In the second half, the folk-rock project Lautrec will play, bringing together Roman Hampacher (ex-Dobrohošt', Irish Dew, Jana Koubková, solo), Martin Kalenda (ex-Echolama, Mrakoplaš, Nomen Omen, Poslední šance, ...) and Michal Bulíř (ex-Jen tak, Ztraceni v překladu, Wasabeat.
"A couple of years ago I met Michal Prokop at work and he subsequently chose some of my stuff for his latest album. With his well-known demanding nature for song lyrics and his previous collaboration with the genius poet Pavel Šrut, it was a dream come true for me, as I grew up on the big three of Prokop, Mišík, Pospíšil, and a great challenge. Finally, on the album It could be heaven... are three of my texts," says Michal Bulíř. "Subsequently, the long-prepared collection was published by Galen. Valerie in the Year of Wonders with beautiful annotation by Mirek Kovářík."
