Philosophy of modern song is a brand new book by Bob Dylan, just published by Argo in a translation by Gita Zbavitelová. In sixty-six concentrated lyrics, Dylan writes about the songs of other artists, from Johnny Cash and Ray Charles to Nina Simone and The Clash, moving from trivial observations and Dylan-esque banter to fundamental observations about the nature of popular music and artistic creation in general. His writing is dark, colourful, at times impenetrable and often extremely funny, and although ostensibly about music, it actually offers an insightful meditation on the human condition.

Ondřej Konrád and Michal Plzák, expert consultants of the Czech translation and dylanologists, will discuss the book with Petr Onufer, the book's editor. The evening will be accompanied by several Dylan songs in their Czech versions by Marian Opletal, bandleader of the MARiAN Band.
