Sakaki was a Japanese poet, a contemporary of the American Beat Generation. His work shows Japan as it is rarely portrayed. The exuberant, wild spirit of the inhabitants of the fishing villages of the islands of southern Japan, the mountain hamlets, the vagabonds of the underworld of the big cities, far from the well-manicured tea parlors of high society, who, penniless and homeless since the end of World War II, have traversed the cities, mountains, and ocean shores of four continents. Unbound by employment, domesticity, religious or political ideology, he was able to see clearly. A selection of poetry translated by Jiri Wein.
Admission 200,- in advance sale, 250,- at the door.
