Oswald Schneider

Počátky historie skupiny Oswald Schneider sahají do roku 1983, kdy ji založili Luděk Majer a Jan Kopecký. V kapele hrálo v průběhu její existence asi třicet muzikantů. Sestava skupiny se kromě úplných začátků, kdy každý hrál, na co jen trochu uměl, ustálila v počátcích 90. let na bicích, base, klávesách, kytaře a dvou zpěvech (Ivana Stanislavová a Luděk Majer), přibyla také dechová sekce (dva saxofony a trubka). Od vydání druhé desky (1998) hrál Oswald již bez dechových nástrojů. Po odchodu bubeníka Milana Caise (Tata bojs) a baskytaristy Filipa Nebřenského (Hm…) a několika pokusech a omylech skupina našla v roce 2004 nového baskytaristu a bubeníka (Ondřej Schicker a Miloš Sojka) a od té doby hraje v nezměněné sestavě. V posledních letech se skupinou příležitostně vystupuje Joe Kučera (saxofony) či staronový člen Jiří Alexa na trubku. Oswald Schneider vydal čtyři oficiální alba a jedno SP. V roce 1995 eponymní album (Melantrich), 1998 That's where (Indies), 2002 Dudytojz Werk (Indies), 2017 Wald Schneid (Field 5) and 2021 OswaldSchneiderSingl (Indies).

It's not music for people looking for the latest trends, it's not for those who don't have time, but it's not for those who want to meditate to music either. It's not complicated, but it's not simple either. The musicians don't draw attention to themselves with instrumental performances, they are not afraid of simplicity or searching and experimentation. Each song is different, but they work together. It's song-oriented, there's jazz, danceable bossa nova and guitar, from tender songs to somewhere like Rage Against the Machine, from trip hop to art rock to modern jazz.
