"The day melted away in trickles and drips, no tap was turned on today, all the baths and bowls were leaking. Again and again the water gathered at the end of a branch in the window until it overflowed and dropped right in the middle of a leaf far below-the sound resembled a bird's squawk, but a longer interval betrayed it." (Wine Hill)
--------------
A reading with live music, in which memories of the mundane float through a delicate fabric of sounds. The encounter of a snipe with a bow and a snail on a grasshopper. A composition with elements of improvisation using Petr Borkovec's texts performed by the author.
--------------
Ian Mikyska has selected five recent prose texts by Petr Borkovec and built on them a loose musical structure for a reciter and three musicians. The music always derives from the texts, whose central themes include a relationship to nature or a specific rhythm of experience. The music does not accompany the reading, but neither does it allude to it: the two components are equal and the result is a continuous work straddling both worlds, with its own passage of time and atmosphere.

"I stand over a rolled away stone - over a small grave in which rests a purple slipper - and save myself from understanding what I see, at least for a while. That the moment before I begin to compare and contrast the slipper in my mind, comparing and contrasting all sides, will not last long. Promises I break from the first moment: purple glass, cartridge case, oil, brooch and a small grave. A cartridge case? Oh, my! Even metaphor is, after all, human reasoning. And good metaphors are hidden in words, they shine through from within - if I wanted to (want to!) speak without them, I couldn't even say the word 'slipper'. I say 'slipper' - and I'm talking about myself!" (On slippers)
