Talking about singing #1: Jana Vébrová

The first evening will belong to Jana Vébrová, an exceptional Czech singer-songwriter, composer and accordion player, who became famous in 2007 with her debut album Kykyrý. Her unmistakable vocal expression and original songs quickly won her recognition. After sixteen years devoted to family and maternal duties, she returned to the music scene with her second album Stones from the bottom, which was christened on 27 April 2023 in the Unijazz Reading Room. Jana Vébrová's career is a fascinating mosaic of personal experience, natural inspiration and deep emotional truth. Her return to the music scene with the album Stones from the bottom promises another important chapter in her artistic development. Nature, especially the elements of water and air, plays a key role in her music. Jana perceives her creativity as an emotional process that is strongly influenced by her home environment in the Lusatian Mountains. These places inspire her and provide a space for her work.

About the presenters:

Marta Marinová is a Czech singer, composer and actress who is active in the jazz and chamber music scene. She received her musical education at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University and KJJ, where she was influenced by teachers such as Vlasta Mlejnková and Marie Urbanová. As a passionate lover of polyphony, she leads the vocal-instrumental group Linha Singers and is active in two jazz groups: the Prime Time Voice and the swing quartet Coffee Time. Marta is also the author of songs that appear in the performances of Divadlo Sklep and in a duo with guitarist P. Tichy. In addition to music, she writes lyrics and poems; last year she published a collection of poetry Mirrors. He is a regular presenter of the programme Noční mikrofórum on ČRo Dvojka. Marta Marinová is a multi-talented artist who constantly enriches the Czech music scene.

Petra Ernyeiová is a Czech jazz singer, vocal instructor and organizer of musical events. Petra has been a soloist in several orchestras and led her own band, the Petra Ernyei Quartet, with whom she recorded an album So Many Stars. Since 2019 she has been collaborating with guitarist Adam Tvrdý and bassist Petr Dvorský, with whom she released an album To jsem já / This Is Mededicated to Jewish music. In 2022, she founded the VOCAL - NIGHT OF SINGERS festival, which celebrates women's singing. Petra also organizes singing workshops and performs in Europe, USA and other countries.
