Jiří Orten Award

The ceremony of announcing the laureate of the 39th Jiří Orten Prize will offer a meeting with three nominated authors of the upcoming generation of Czech literature. The poems by Nela Bártová in her collection The Grenade Thrower are made up of fragments of everyday communication, which the author composes into an urgent whole. In Formaldehyde, Daria Gordova develops a poetics between prose and poetry that is a dark reflection on a world that has probably gone mad. Martin Kanaloš, in his novel Me, Tran and Everything Else, depicts growing up on the social fringe and talks about what it is like not to fit in in the Czech Republic. The evening will be guided by Jan Musil, with musical accompaniment by the duo Anna Romanovská and Gabriela Vermelho.
