Radio 1 #5: Zdeněk Hnyk

The second programme of the series, Wednesday 20 November, will be dedicated to Zdeněk Hnyk.

Zdeněk Hnyk started working for Radio 1 in 1991. The show "A Few Hundred Fridays Back" was a fictitious hit parade Oldies, but almost anything could fit into the genre. It was voted into by dozens of listeners back then. Later, it was a regular Friday Morning Shift broadcast, sometimes in tandem with Blanka Šrůmová, for example. In the 1990s, he worked for several years as a roadmanager for Silent Agreement.

For six years since 2012, he has been one of a number of volunteer judges from around the world at the prominent International Blues Challenge music competition in Memphis, Tennessee.

Currently, he has been broadcasting on Radio 1's "multi-genre" Wednesday morning shift for more than two decades and works as a sound engineer and production technician.

At the same time, Zdeněk has been singing for almost ten years as the frontman of the legendary Hudba Praha, not to mention sporadic concerts of his own rock'n'roll band Bedřich & Zoufalci, founded in 1982. So there will be plenty to talk about during the evening, both with the moderator Jerry Žák and with the visitors, whose questions are as always welcome!
