Radio 1 #8: Josef Sedlon

Another part of the programme dedicated to the famous voices of Radio 1, which you can see live in our Reading Room. The March guest of Jana Kománková and/or Jerry Žák will be Josef Sedloň on Wednesday, March 19.

Josef Sedloň began broadcasting on Radio 1 in February 1991, but he had already gained experience a year earlier from the Independent Scene programme on Czech Radio. At R1, he originally broadcast Tuesday and Thursday afternoon shifts together with Zoran Stehlík and then Sunday evenings, where since 93 he has been preparing the exclusive programme News on the Alternative Scene and Séance and since 97 also the profile programme Intro. Of course, he also performs as a club DJ, starting right after the revolution in the legendary club 007 in Strahov, where he still plays today. In 95 he founded the Lighthouse promotion agency, which for 8 years brought us the best of the foreign electronic scene and gave us the unforgettable Open Air Field festival. Since 2005 Josef has been collaborating with Palác Akropolis club on the Music Infinity concert series and since 2014 also on the dramaturgy of the Spectaculare multimedia festival, where in both cases he tries to present the most interesting from the contemporary alternative music scene. He has also co-produced music since 2005 in projects such as Live Kids, Uncless, Universal Loosers and HiFi & LoFi. In 2017 he also co-founded the project Dance to Ecstasy - experience the party in another dimension. Musically, he is one of the most eclectic DJs in the country, who also enriches his sets with the sound of live musicians.

For three decades, the Unijazz Reading Room and Radio 1 have been traditional spaces for the promotion and development of alternative culture. Radio 1's series of listening and discussion programmes began on 26 February 2024.
