The Black Veils - a post-punk, cold wave band from Bologna, Italy that sounds like an angry mix of Joy Division, Soviet Soviet and P.I.L.

The Black Veils formed in 2014 as a result of an absurd meeting between Alessandro Criscitiello (aka gregorsamsaestmort), Filippo Scalzo (Caron Dimonio) and Mario d'Anelli (European Ghost) and have been gustily composing angry and gloomy post-punk songs ever since. They have released three albums in more than a decade together: Blossom (2015), Dealing with Demons (2017) a Carnage (2021). Between 2015 and 2024 they toured Europe (Italy, France, Germany, Bosnia...), sharing the stage with Drab Majesty, The Foreign Resort, Je t'aime and Geometric Vision.

Gaslight, their fourth studio album, was released on 14 November 2025 on the independent French label Icy Cold Records. A decisive shift towards electronica, ten apocalyptic tracks full of black humour and cinematic imagery. „Your funeral party is ready.“

Refýž revels in the search for new sounds, she is fascinated by dirt and rawness, and although one could perhaps look for points of contact in post-punk and grunge, she doesn't like to limit her base to genre boxes. One of the three-piece's remarkable gifts is the ability to shout out to the world what others struggle to find words for. It's based on long-standing friendships, musical harmony, relentless shouting, the grey of South Town, smoke-scented tablecloths and empty cans.
