Behind the screen of the manosphere

The aim of the event is to open up a public debate on the phenomenon of the ‘manosphere’: an online environment that brings together themes of masculinity, relationships, self-improvement, anti-feminism, frustration, radicalisation and commercial influencer culture.

The event would combine a screening of the documentary *Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere* with a subsequent moderated debate featuring experts and representatives from the civil society sector.

The documentary serves as an accessible introduction to the subject for the general public. Netflix describes the film as a documentary in which Louis Theroux explores the growing „ultra-masculine network“ and controversial influencers; the film runs for 1 hour 31 minutes and is rated 16+.

The topic should be contextualised within the Czech context: how such narratives spread in our country, who they appeal to, and how they relate to social media, gender equality, the mental health of young men, and the prevention of online radicalisation.
