Alen + David Pomahač
Songstress Alen released her debut solo album on Polí5 in 2020 When the rivers pour out of their banks. In lyrics and music he works with intimacy, fragility and remarkable depth. From purely piano songs she is now moving in a more band direction, releasing a second album, she has also started playing guitar and is accompanied by double bass (David Liber) and drums (Matyáš Hökl).
"For a couple of years I've been performing alone, but in connection with the second album I thought it would be good to join forces with other musicians. I started playing with a band, which I enjoy immensely. The energy and the liveliness."
In October 2022 Polí5 will release their second album called Darkness, which was produced by Martin E. Kyšperský (Květy).
"Martin and I met during the recording of his project 29/2. We enjoyed working together, so I suggested to him if he would like to participate in the recording of my second album. He agreed - and we basically went straight from recording 29/2 to recording my new record. Much of it was improvised between coffee and a walk. I always brought the skeleton of the song, the melody on piano or guitar, lyrics and vocals, and Martin arranged it."
On the album Darkness she also collaborated with a number of guests (cello, drums, violin, viola, double bass, trumpet). Ondřej Ježek took care of the final sound in the Jámor studio.
Singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist David Pomahač is the founder of the famous urban folk duo Kieslowski. He left his mark in the bands Bez peří, Houpací koně, played in Xavier Baumaxy's backing band, and in recent years he has also accompanied singer-songwriter Ima Teva.
In early 2020, he stepped out of the shadow of Kieslowski and released the album Do tmy je daleko, produced by Tomas Havlen (Post-Music, An Animal Named Autumn, Spomenik, etc.), to a solo career. Into Darkness is Far Away charted in the top 20 of the year-long chart The Big Seven of Radio 1, in the magazine's best albums of 2020 Full Moon, in the top ten best albums of the year Musicserver.cz and a selection of the best radio records Express FM.
In April 2022, Pomahač released his second solo album on Minority Records, titled Invisible. The co-writer of the music and producer of the album is Martin Hůla aka Martin Hard or Bonus.
"The best things in life are invisible," notes the Helper. "The air we breathe, the stories written between the lines, love itself. Even inspiration is drawn from some intangible realm. Sometimes I am then invisible to myself - hard to read, unaware of my motivations, oblivious to the signs - but then I recognize myself in the telling of other people's stories. The invisible is a means of processing these stimuli."
