Fanfan Tulip
An original symbiosis of jazz, funk, film music and chanson with Estonian spices - this is the band Fanfan Tulip, a trans-genre formation with Hammond melodica, piano, saxophone, Estonian zither, music box and energetic rhythmics.
The group was founded in 2009 by composer Eliška Vidomus, who is the author of the repertoire - her compositions are usually based on strong bass grooves and singing melodies. In the band she plays Hammond melodica, Estonian zither and sings. Other members are saxophonist Martin Forst, pianist Petr Svoboda, bassist Martin Gerla and drummer Simon Hajdovsky. Fanfan's latest album GENIUS NOCI was created in the SONO studio in collaboration with Milan Cimfe and Adam Karlík. Animation clip for the title song of the album was selected for the AniFilm 2020 festival and the single Genius of the night was released in a limited edition on vinyl.
Magazine Rock & All in the review of the album he wrote: "Jazz exhibitions are interspersed with ambient landscapes, but underneath the playful central melodies lies serious musicianship."
In the past, the band has performed at Jazz an der Donau, Jazz Goes To Town, Bratislava Jazz Days, the Bulgarian Bansko Jazz Fest and the Romanian SoundCzech Festival.
