Radio 1 Close #2: Reggae Club

Radio 1 nearby is a brand new series of shows in which Jana Kománková, Jerry Žák, DJ Kaya and other Radio 1 personalities will present their shows in a live discussion in the Unijazz Reading Room.

In March we will have another episode of the show, this time dedicated to the oldest show on Radio 1, Reggae Club with DJ Kayawhich has been broadcast since 9 March 1991, so from the very beginning of Radio 1. The programme will include everything that traditionally belongs to the Reggae Club, riddims and classic hits, information about interesting concerts, parties, festivals, record launches, etc., especially in the styles of roots reggae, dancehall, nu roots, soca, rocksteady, ska, dub, dub poetry... current music recordings, but also experiences, memories, commentaries and visual materials that would not make it into the regular radio format.

"The launch of the book Radio 1 - Life on the Air showed that listeners are interested in the behind-the-scenes of radio and want to come and see what they sometimes only hear. As Unijazz Reading Room liked the way listeners interacted, we decided to try and develop an event where the different programmes would come to life. There are many other variations to try in the future, including broadcasts directly from Žižkov. For now, we are starting with what we have consistently gotten the most responses to: the Hit Parade, the Reggae Club and we'll see what's next. The opportunity to come and experience your favourite radio in a different form and spend a pleasant evening in a place that is perfect for such parties seems to me very nice," adds Jana Kománková about the whole concept of the Radio 1 series.

The Radio 1 Close-up series is produced with the support of Krenovka and SUDOP Real, pThe shows always start at 19:00 and the entrance is free.
