Argo Publishing: To Helm's Deep

The launch of the poetry collection.

A belated poetic debut Ales Berny offers an impressive epic band from Prague's Podskalí: 

A conversation (whether imaginary or real) with a former love is mixed with images from his childhood, a depiction of the irreversible transformation of an entire neighbourhood and the tragic story of a family from Podskal, all presented in an evocative language saturated with allusions to great literary works and contemporary pop culture. Passages of almost Holan-esque narrative alternate with quiet, spare, visually powerful images evoking the painful transience of man and city, and a pervasive melancholic note runs through the entire poem, a longing for the past, for all that the brown river has carried from Podskalí to Helm's Dam.

The musical accompaniment will be provided by the group Mad Friedrichfor which Aleš Berný composes songs and writes lyrics.
