Openly about Prague #5
In cooperation with the Krenovka Cultural Centre, we invite you to another debate from the Openly about Prague series, which this time will focus on the densification of the city's development and the problems associated with it. Urban growth cannot do without new construction. On the map of Prague we can find places that are already almost built up and where it is very difficult to build anything new. New buildings are springing up in the historic part of the city, which are causing great controversy. However, the intentions of developers and individual builders are currently directed more towards the wider centre or outskirts of the city. To what extent do such projects respect the interests of those who live in the area? And how do the old residents feel about new construction in their neighbourhood? These are just some of the questions that will be raised in the panel debate on the topic of densification of existing developments at the Unijazz Reading Room.
Among the panelists this time we welcome:
Jaromír Haince - Director of the Urban Development Section of the Prague City Planning and Development Institute,
Michal Lehečka - a social anthropologist working at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University focusing on sustainable urbanism,
Pavel Hnilička - architect, urban planner, author of zoning
and regulatory plans and publications Density and Urban Economics
or Settlement Porridge II,

Ondřej Prokop - Prague City and Prague 11 councillor, an active politician who has long been critical of plans to densify the South Town.
